surgery day!
Tigrinho (little tiger in english) had a consultation with the eye doctor today to see how his recovery is going.
The eye that underwent cataract surgery is healing very well. In another week or so, he can be discharged and head back to the cat hotel, where he will finish his treatments, but with much less eye drops per day. He’s also responding well to the flu treatments, and is close to be done with the antibiotics.
His next recheck with the eye doctor is in 10 days. The first 2 weeks after the surgery were very crazy, a lot of stress for everyone, but our vet staff managed the best way possible.

Tigrinho’s cataract surgery is scheduled for December 18th! Today, he had blood work, an echocardiogram, and an electrocardiogram done. To reduce stress, the exams were performed at the cat hotel instead of transporting him to the hospital, because every time we have to drive him or his litter to the hospital, it’s extremely stressful for all of them. As we said before, they all were rescued from a very cruel situation.
IT WAS DEFINITELY CLEAR HE HATED US BY THE END OF HIS EXAMS , BUT HIS LOVE FOR FOOD AND SNACKS MADE THINGS A LITTLE EASIER!
Next, he’ll need an ocular ultrasound and electroretinography under sedation. Once we have all the results, we’ll be ready for his big day on the 18th.
