In the beginning of 2024, we were notified about a foal frantically running in the middle of the road and almost getting hit by multiple cars. So, our friend went to the location and was able to safely get Shakira.
A man in the area threatened our friend, because he got word about her taking Shakira off the street. He said Shakira is his foal and he wanted her back. He was lying, and of course, we didn’t give her back.
This man even went to our friend’s private residence at night, and she had to call the police to help stop him and make him leave.
We had Shakira transported to our sanctuary, and she’s been with us ever since.
She loves spending her days with our small horse herd, soaking up the sunshine and companionship. One of her absolute favorite things? The hanging apple- and mint-flavored treats we receive from generous donors… she gets so excited when we hang them in the trees just for her!
Shakira is a tiny, spunky beauty with a thick, wild mane and a big personality.
